Nine50 was founded by Lee-Ann Kelly in Sydney, Australia in 2006, born from a love of beautiful silver jewellery and a desire to bring something truly unique to the Australian market.

After a successful career in retail sales and management, Lee-Ann took the leap into business ownership and began searching for silver jewellery she could be genuinely passionate about pieces with soul, story, craftsmanship and cultural meaning.

In January 2007, Nine50 was born.

The name Nine50 reflects the quality of the silver itself. Nine50 jewellery is handcrafted from 950 silver, meaning it is 95% pure silver a higher silver content than standard 925 sterling silver. Each piece is handmade using traditional silversmithing techniques passed down through generations.

From the beginning, Lee-Ann was drawn to Peru: its culture, its artistry, its ancient silver traditions and its skilled artisans. At the time, her family was already sponsoring a child in Cusco, Peru, through Compassion Australia.

“I had very little international travel experience and barely knew anything about South America,” says Lee-Ann. “But within a few months of placing my first order, I travelled to Lima to meet suppliers, visit sponsor children and experience Peruvian culture for the first time.”

What began as a small party-plan jewellery business soon grew into something much larger. Nine50 recruited consultants in Sydney and Melbourne and developed a wholesale arm, supplying handmade Peruvian silver jewellery to boutique stores around Australia.

“I am forever grateful to my family, Nine50 consultants, customers and retailers who supported me and believed in Nine50 in those early days.”

Over the years, Nine50 has built a loyal customer base and lasting relationships with Peruvian artisans, suppliers and small business owners.

Nine50 is more than a jewellery business. It was created with a compassionate mission: to support traditional craftsmanship, encourage ethical trading relationships and create opportunities for people and communities to prosper.

Alongside child sponsorship and advocacy through Compassion Australia, Nine50 has also funded more than 150 micro-loans to Peruvian women through Kiva.org, helping women start or grow their own small businesses.

Nine50 silver jewellery is handcrafted from 950/1000 silver, meaning it contains 95% pure silver. This has a higher silver content than standard 925 sterling silver, which contains 92.5% silver.

The result is a beautiful, high quality silver with a rich finish and artisan feel. Every piece is handmade in Peru using traditional silversmithing techniques passed down through generations, giving each item its own individual character.
